– Ensures the fairness, transparency, and timeliness of the review process.

– Protects confidentiality — the identity of authors and reviewers, as well as the content of works under review, is not disclosed to third parties.

– Identifies and manages conflicts of interest, both their own and those of others, including refraining from handling works in which they have a personal or professional interest.

– Ensures mechanisms for detecting and responding appropriately to plagiarism, data falsification, duplicate submissions, or works submitted simultaneously to multiple journals.

– Where necessary, ensures the publication of corrections, clarifications, retractions, or public statements of rejection.
